My Soap Opera Life

 No coffee pot?!? Argh!
Back to Full Blog

I went to visit my mother yesterday in the hospital. When I was leaving to go home, a nasty storm came up. I had to run to the car in my bare feet (so as not to bust my butt running) through the parking lot. I was soaked to the bone when I jumped in my car. I couldn't see to drive home & the roads were like a river. Twice, I tried to ease on my brakes & felt/heard a weird sound. Yep, no brakes as they're wet. I finally turned on my emergency flashers so the other cars could see me. I didn't want someone to run in to me. After the white-knuckle drive/float home, I was relieved to see dry land - or home. The girls were sitting on each side of Scott under covers scared of the lightning too. I understand. I saw the cloud-to-ground lightning strikes one right after the other as I was driving right in to the storm. I just prayed to get me home safe.

This morning, Scott got up & found that my coffee pot doesn't work. I have had a nice $50 coffee pot that I dearly loved! Now do NOT keep me from having my coffee first thing in the morning or you might find that a mean nasty bear has replaced the sweet Secret! Luckily, he had his coffee pot in the house boxed up with his stuff. Lucky for him, I got some coffee!

It'll be a short work week for me cuz we're closed Thursday & Friday. I'm looking forward to a 4-day weekend!

Anyhoo, hope everyone is having a Happy Monday!

Hey! We drove through the same blasted storm yesterday! That thing was horrible!

We went to see a couple movies yesterday and the theatre that we like to go to is about an hour away. The drive down was a nightmare of hard, pouring rain. The sun was shining when we left the theatre. But we stopped at my hotel for about a half hour and by the time we got back on the road the rain was back with thunder and lightening. YUCK!! It was not a fun drive home at all

Im glad we both made it safe!

I'm glad you made it safe too, Polly. It was awful!! I guess you got it after it left me. I was just glad it DID leave! I was driving in that crap.

Why aren't you sleeping?

Oh Chris! I'm SO ashamed!! Yes, I admit, I'm a first morning coffee junkie. Now I don't drink it all day, but when I get up, yeppers, I NEEEEEEED it! The rest of the day I'm either drinking water or iced tea. Does that help?

I actually wish I liked Coffee, Secret.
I usually have a hard time waking up and a mega dose of caffeine would be a BIG help. . .Sweet Tea just doesn't supply that wake-up JOLT I need.

The only thing other than coffee with that jolt would be an ice cold Mtn Dew. It has lots of caffeine in it!

I've been a coffee drinker for many years, lagirl. I guess it's an acquired taste, but I do love it!

Thanks for coming by & have a great Monday!!

"Why aren't you sleeping?"

Mom, is that you?

We went to bed pretty late last night and slept until around 10 am... we will take a nap before going in tonight.

Yep, it's me, Mom! I can't help it cuz I AM a mom. I know...I know...

That's good. I know you get really tired at work without your sleep.

I think for me it would be a toss up as to which was worse - the white-knuckle drive or the non-working coffee maker. Good to know you survived both.

I used to be the same way about my coffee...and some mornings I still am...mostly in the winter...I can use all the help I can get to wake up then. Good thing Scott still had some things there!

Why is it coffee makers never seem to give you any warning that anything is wrong? They just up and die in their sleep.

Hiya Heather! I'm in need of my first morning coffee year around. Yep, can't be without it.

I think lightning must have zapped it, but it doesn't seem to have gotten anything else. That's a good thing, for sure! The 'puter was unplugged. The outlet still works so it just got the coffee maker.

It was a good thing he had his. I'd have been boiling water & straining coffee though a filter by hand to get my cuppa joe!

Yeppers.... that was one scary lightning strike that killed the coffee pot and scared the girls! I jumped about two feet myself!

Glad you made it home safely, too.

Is your mother doing ok? I'm sorry to hear she is in the hospital. I hope all turns out well.

As far as the coffee pot, I know exactly where you are coming from. I have had the horrow of waking up without my cup of coffee due to either a broken coffee pot or because I somehow forgot to buy coffee. Thankfully, there is a Wawa very close to me. I look like death when I go in there, but feel better in a short time...

Hi childrenfirst. Mother is doing a bit better. She was getting immune to her meds & is having to have them adjusted. She is some better & wants out of the hospital. I hope she can go home soon. I hate seeing her up there....

I stopped at WalMart on my way home from work yesterday & replaced my coffee pot. This one was made so much cheaper & smaller! The prices keep going up, & product is getting less.

Anyhoo, have a great day!

No prob, Secret.

You know I try to help out whenever I can..... and you KNOW how I am about my coffee! .... just pour 20 ounces over ice and down the hatch! Blood pressure be damned..... I love the rush.

I'm finding I'm not alone in this coffee thing, chanda. I replaced mine yesterday & made a nice fresh pot this morning! It was yummy!
