My Soap Opera Life

 Games, dad & doors
Back to Full Blog

Lulu had another game Friday night. She is the first batter, so she was standing there warming up. Suddenly she looks up & waves. I look behind me & lo & behold there stands her step-mom & the baby! I look around & there is her dad & the other daughter. I couldn't believe my eyes!! This is the first game he has shown up for all season. Needless to say, she was happy. My thoughts were...it's about time! I had seen him at one of Tay's games as his daughter had a game at the field across from us. Why does he think it's ok for him to go to her games, & not this child's? He adopted the other girl during the 9 month period when he didn't see her. I'm just bitter with him, as you can tell. Anyway, I'm glad he finally came to see her (for HER sake). It's a shame it's the end of the season & she has 2 games left.

The game was pretty close the whole time, them we got ahead 4-3. It was bottom of the 5th, so we thought the game was over as we play 5 innings. The ump didn't really know much of what was going on, & made up his calls according to who the call was for. NOT right, but.... They came back & said that there was still 8 minutes left to play, so we started another inning. Well, THEY wanted another inning, so they GOT it! We went back out on the field smoking & won this game 12-3!!

My outbuilding doors have been slowly rotting for awhile now. It's really not old enough to be doing this, but wasn't caulked & built correctly so water seeped behind it. One of my customers owns a company that builds the wooden buildings. He came out Saturday morning, took my doors off & to his place, & returned that afternoon to install my new doors. They look so good, the close all they way, & are whole doors! Yeah!! Now I'll have to get some primer & paint this coming weekend as it's bare wood. But I have new doors!!

Hope you all had a great weekend, & will have a wonderful week - even if today IS just Monday!

Taking care of replacing things is really important and congrats on the new doors, Secret. A farm down the road from where I live had their entire barn blow away in a windstorm 2 weeks ago and yes, there were still animals in it! It seems they didn't think the upkeep of the barn a worthy thing to do!

I have no idea, but it really pisses me off when it effect MY daughter! He wouldn't let me come get her(after he wouldn't bring her home) that Sunday night before Labor Day 2006 & called the police on me. He didn't call or see her for 10 months after that. He finally saw her starting July 2007. During this time (starting in October) he was proceeding to adopt his wife's daughter who is 6 mos older than Lulu.
I just don't get it....Lulu was around before he met C. Hopefully Lulu will come to understand some day.

Hope you're doing great & thanks for stopping by, Bella!!

Hi CM. I have my lawn mowers, weed eater, & a bunch of other stuff (decorations) & just stuff in the building. It's for storage & it has definitely been used! I have to take care of it cuz I sure can't afford to replace it.
I'll be pressure-washing my deck & waterproofing it, porch & re-staining it, & the siding on the house within the next several months.
I think owning a house has never-ending jobs!

Have a great day!

Oh Baseball season is so much fun!! My son plays too - he's the pitcher - and he's finally getting to an age where it's actually exciting to watch. He'll be 12 this fall - and our BB season is just getting started!

We as parents have no idea the influence we have on these little lives.....there is a reason why they live at home till their 18 - its because they NEED us!! I hate hearing about absent parents - but its good to know that at least you are doing your part....which is a huge part and makes ALL the difference in the life of a kid!

Hope your day is good and the week even better!

Hi Sittin. I love watching my girls play softball & they both play short stop. Tay also plays basketball & so does my son. My little Lulu cheers too, so we're sports all year around. We live at a ballfield or a gym!
My girls say they're going to always live with me. [EMOTICON:COOL2]] I think that'll change once they get older, but for now, I kinda like that they feel that way.
Thanks for coming by & have a great day!

I don't understand how a parent can just NOT see their own child but it happens everyday.

Congrats on the win. I know they were thrilled.

Glad you were able to get your doors fixed. We've got a shed out back that needs to have new doors put on it. Everytime we open them it's a battle. One day.....the doors will get fixed or the whole thing will fall down and we won't have to worry about the doors anymore

Hope your week is going good

I look at my little Lulu & have never been able to understand how he can do things he does. Some of it is, I know, to "get to me"; but who is he actually hurting? Her. He just doesn't see it. She does & one day I hope she lets him have it with both barrels!! Kids are smarter than they're given credit for.

They were thrilled. We played again last night & won 9-1, so that was great too! Tonight is our last season game. I hope we go out on top! Tay & Lulu will be playing some more starting in June for a few games.

I still have no idea how much my doors are costing me. He left & said we'll work it out later. He'd already told me that it'd be "pennies" cuz he was only charging me for the wood. He's a customer, but also a good person too. I waiting on a bill....

Thanks for coming by Sybil!!

Hi Rubble. Yep, it's Tuesday & one day closer. I'm looking forward to the 3-day weekend with Memorial Day. I hope the weather is nice as I've got to primer/paint my building doors & hopefully get some more stuff done that I need to do. Maybe I'll get to relax some too, but who knows.

Secret, thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment. I was just talking to my daughter yesterday about the subject of her father. He decided not to be involved with our children most of their lives, yet things changed when his health changed for the worse. It took his own health problems to change his attitude about how important our five children are to him. She and her twin sister had already started college when the transformation began. She also confided in me they were very resentful to him for a long time. Here they had grown up with only Mom being there for them through all the tears and laughter and their special things, whether performances or going to church. It took a long time to accept the change in him from all of us, but we all hung in there and things are great now. You couldn't ask for a more caring father and grandfather. As far as a husband, he does the best he can, but it's hard with all of his health issues. The sad thing is he lost out on years of wonders from his family. Sad that the memories are still more mine with the kids than his with them. Sad. At least your daughter's dad did show up and it made her happy. I pray he continues now and doesn't do it now and then and play with her emotions.

God Bless,
Karen

Hi Karen. It's just very selfish of them & they just don't seem to "get it". They hurt their children & it doesn't seem to even bother them. I just don't understand how someone can do that to their own flesh & blood.

I'm glad yours finally came around. Too bad it too that to get him to realize their importance to him. I hope he sticks around now.

I'm not sure what Lulu's will do. He doesn't even speak to his own family now. He's done this on & off his whole adult life, from what I've heard. It's really sad, but like you said, it's HIS loss!

Hello Secret--I love going to grandkids baseball, football, soccer, basketball, track, etc..etc..etc..Where do kids nowadays get all of their energy..it just wears me out just thinking about them..off course having family come and watch them play is important to them, even to the bench warmers What color are you going to paint the doors??Take care, and thanks for stopping by my site, also.

Hi AO. I sure wish I could bottle their energy & drink it down! I'd be so happy & could "hang with 'em". I'm thinking I'll be needing the extra energy come next month. I'm the new cheer coach for the B-team & I have 13 girls in 3rd & 4th grades. We start mid-June!

The outbuilding is shaped like a barn & is red-barn colored now. I'm considering painting is a silver gray to match the siding on my house, but I haven't decided totally yet.

Thanks for coming by!
