 Mother's Day was wonderful!
Back to Full Blog

I had the best Mother's Day....

Saturday evening Lulu's 'father' was supposed to bring her home, but he told her to call & have me come get her. @%&*x%$*@! So I did. Evidently, since he didn't get her his whole weekend, so he wasn't bringing her home. Last time was because she didn't get off the bus at his house... It's always something with him.

Anyway, she & I made a trip to Wally World to get a few things & came back home. We sat & ate our dinner while watching "27 Dresses". That was such an adorable movie! She knew I'd been wanting to see it. Last weekend while at the beach with her aunt, she picked out & purchased (with her own $) this movie for me for my Mother's Day gift. We both loved watching it & had the best time with just us two girls.

B & T had wanted to go to Sunday school so they didn't come home until after that. Lulu took it upon herself to make me breakfast. She fixed scrambled eggs & toast - all by herself with no help or supervision (that she knew about) from me. She had the biggest smile on her face when she brought me a plate. I got the best hug & kiss from her - with a smile to melt your heart. Well, it did mine.

I was in the bathroom getting my face ready for us to go see my mother & take her to lunch. Tay came back in & said "Mom, I need you. There's something in the yard by the porch & I have no idea what it is!" I'm thinking snake or something. So out we go. My clue was when we got to the end of the carport, she decides to cover my eyes & guide me. B & T are taking me to the porch.

There sits my Mother's Day gift from them. It was a set of square dishes that I've been wanting. I was looking at them about 2 months ago & told them that could be my Christmas present this year. Wow! They actually remembered!! Well, Tay did. I got them many months early! I was all excited too. Tay & I washed them, I cleared a space for them & now they're in the cabinet. They're great!

We left to go get my mother. I had bought her a new outfit & flowers. She was just getting dressed, so I had her UNdress & put on her new outfit. It looked great! She's lost weight & everything is too big for her now, so I decided that would be a great gift for her. She loved it, & the other ladies in her home told her "not to go catching any men while she's gone". Um...why not? After we all pigged out, the kiddos & I ended up shopping. I came home with B & Lulu a new pair of tennis shoes, some shorts for all 3, & then on to Academy Sports (Tay LOVES this store) for some more. Even tho I was broke by the time we got home, we still had a wonderful time.

So, spending the day with my children & mother made this a great Mother's Day!

Hope all you mothers out that had a special day also.

My Mothers day was sans kids as one is in NC and the other two in FL BUT they all "checked" in and thats all I could ask for!

Yours sounded absolutely delightful! And you will never forget it...(or uh, maybe you will...I say that because my oldest emailed me this funny letter about all these strange, quirky things I used to do like make her stuffed squirrel, "Nutsy" tell her whimsically in her ear to do the dishes." Or about the time I pulled over and helped a lady along the side of the road and then refused money the woman offered or the time....

No, no, I'm sure you'll always remember that day with Lulu BUT I predict that Lulu (when SHE'S 21) will be reminding you of some of the little nice things, silly things you used to do with her and for her and you'll be like,.."I did that? Go ME!"

I just told her to remember those moments more than the times I dropped the ball with her.

She's very forgiving --whew!

Again, glad you had a great day!!

m.

I wished I could say mine was that special, but I did what I wanted to do, laid around and did nothing! I did tell my youngest daughter's stepmother how much I appreciate her being my daughter's surrogate mom when I'm not around, which brought her to tears. However that made my Mother's Day. I got phone calls, one from my son today actually a day late! LOL I talked to him a while ago. Of course, little Bella called to wish me happy memaw's day!

That was really nice of your kids to do all that for you!! There is nothing that makes a child happier than seeing their mom enjoy a breakfast they made for her AND be able to surprise her with something that she has REALLY been wanting! As blessed as you are for having them, they obviously feel just as blessed to have you as their mom!

Hi PolarB! I loved 'em too. Even the bowls & coffee mugs are square. They're online at Walmart under the name "Rave", if you want a better look. I was tickled to pieces! I love the look of the square dishes.

Thanks for coming by!
