 Are You Anal Retentive?

You Are a Little Anal Retentive

Okay, so you're occasionally uptight, but it's not like you fill your day with little OCD rituals.

You just like to exercise a little control over your life, and that's usually a good thing.

As long as you limit your anal retentive ways to your own behavior, you're not annoying anyone.

Deep down, most people are exactly like you.

I changed a couple of answers & came up with this:

You Are Totally Anal Retentive

Yup, you're so uptight - people definitely have called you "anal."

You're the type of person who's so OCD you organize your M&Ms before eating them.

You have so many rules and rituals, it's hard for you to let loose and enjoy life.

So go ahead and mix up your alphabetized CD collection. Live a little!

This is funny because I actually DO organize my M&Ms sometimes - by color, of course! I am pretty OCD about some things, but not at bad as this quiz makes it out to be.

I'm going to pick up Randy after work, & then to the first 2 games of our softball tournament. We're the host team so I'll be there all weekend.

Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Boy suspended for talking to dad in Iraq...

I heard on this on the radio this morning.

The little boy's dad is fighting Iraq. That in itself is bad enough. With the time difference, the only time he can call home to talk to his family is during the day & for only about 15 minutes 2-3 times a week (from what I understand).

Yes, there are rules for no cell phones in school, I know. The mother had talked to the assistant principal & explained the situation. She was told it would be ok for her son to accept a call from his dad. Great, right? Um, nope.

The call came in between classes. A teacher saw him talking while walking down the hall & reported him, taking him to the office.

He was suspended for 3 days! The school says they will NOT change this & he will serve his time. There is no tolerance for this.

Doncha think this is special circumstances? With the rate soldiers are being killed over there, this could very well be the last time the boy every speaks to his dad again!!

I was furious when I heard this!! People have been calling in, etc, but the school still stands - 3 day suspension - & on his permanent record.

This dad is over there fighting in Iraq. He's in the military that fights for our country - our freedom. There "free" time is very limited & only allowed at certain times for short spans.

Do you think the principal, or a teacher, would NOT accept a call from her spouse or son/daughter if they could only call during school hours - & on a cell phone?

Some things aren't just black & white. Sometimes there are special cirmumstances for things.

2 days... Freezing temps... 7 games... 2nd place

I'm totally exhausted & about to fall asleep here at/on my desk.

We just finished a 2-day local softball tournament. Our Monday games started at 1:30. This is spring break in our county, but all of us aren't teachers. Luckily, my boss let me take my lunch hour later so I could attend the game. Then he called & told me not to bother coming back in for an hour, so that was great! It was so cold & we were covered in sleet/ice so I was happy to be able to go home to dry out & warm up before our next games at 6:00 & 7:30. Both of these got a late start, so needless to say, I was late getting home. As soon as I arrived home at 10:20, I had to get my flowers & plants covered for the freeze we were having. I finally warmed up in a hot shower & hit the bed about midnight.

I was sleepy, but still was ok getting up yesterday. Since we lost our last game Monday, we didn't play until 4:30. This was ok as I wouldn't have to ask to leave work early, or miss a game. We usually seem to have a "Bad News Bears" inning at some point & Monday night's game was no different. We actually have beat ourselves more than the other team. We lost, won, & lost...

I went straight to the complex from work to start the games. After the pool play Monday for seeding, todays games are single elimination - meaning, if you lose, you're out of the tournament. We sure didn't want that!

Boy were the girls pumped up & on a roll! We have all great innings & won our first two games. The third game was against a team that had beaten us at a previous area game, so we were determined that we WERE going to win this time. Plus, this game determined who went on to play in the championship game for the trophy/title!

It was going very well until the last inning & a couple of missed balls during a brief "BNB" moment. They came back with multiple runs in, & made it up to 8 to our 9 points with only a couple of minutes left.

This pitcher has now pitched 3 straight back-to-back 80-minute games & she's exhausted, & her arm it hurting. She iced it down between games, but still... Another pitcher has bicep tendonitis & can't pitch. The time ran out & we won! This put us in the championship game to be played immediately following this one! Yeah girls!!

He put in our last pitcher for this big game as she is good & is fast. She's a senior & one of the best players on the team. She was doing great until a line drive ball flew directly at her & hit her pitching forearm. The poor girl is tough, but she was in tears on the field. I heard the ball hit bone! They even had to have someone come on the field to look at it. She was almost out of the game, but sucked it up & decided she WAS going to finish pitching. You could tell she was in pain too & would probably have it xrayed today. We ended up losing this game pretty bad, but still came in 2nd place for the tournament!

Thank goodness the girls now have 5 days off to rest. 7 games in 2 days is a LOT of games! Our next will be Monday....

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'd love to take a nap!

Hope you all have a great week!!

 The Spoiled Under-30 Crowd

If you are 30 or older you will think this is hilarious

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking 25 miles to school every morning...uphill BOTH ways
yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it! But now that I'm over the ripe old age of 30, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.

You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!! There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter... with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

There were no MP3s or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up!

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it! And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids.' Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever!

And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

When you went to the movie theater there was no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just screwed!

Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no on screen menu and no remote control! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on!
You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off
your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was no Cartoon Network either!

You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards!

And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove or go build a frigging fire... imagine that! If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing and shake it over the stove forever like an idiot.

That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy.

You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!

 RIP Charlton Heston 1923 - 2008

Charlton Heston, the actor who portrayed Moses in the epic film "The Ten Commandments," has died.

Heston died Saturday at his home in Beverly Hills, Calif. He was 84

In August 2002, Heston said he had been diagnosed with neurological symptoms “consistent with Alzheimer’s disease” following a 1999 announcement that he was being treated for prostate cancer.

The veteran actor, who starred in about 100 movies during his 60-year acting career, aligned himself with some political causes anathema to most American Jews, including the National Rifle Association, which he served four terms as president between 1997 and 2001 after becoming an opponent of gun control late in life. He became one of the organization's most effective spokesmen.

Along with Cecil B. DeMille's "The Ten Commandments," Heston starred in the legendary films "Ben Hur" and "El Cid." He also portrayed a marooned astronaut in "The Planet of the Apes," released in 1968, and played a cameo performance in the 2001 remake.

Heston was a supporter of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., calling him “a 20th century Moses for his people,” and participated in the march on Washington in 1963. He was a registered Democrat for many years, but switched to the Republican Party after the blocked Supreme Court nomination of Robert Bork in 1987.

In 2003 Heston was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Bush.
