My Soap Opera Life

Time again to "eat more dirt".... :)

Yes, our softball season in the hollow has begun again. It's time for family & friends to sit around in their stadium chairs & on the hard bleachers to enjoy watching their favorite child/team "PLAY BALL"! The girls have been practicing every day since the end of basketball season. Their new coaches are really tough on them, but hey!, that's just what they need! Hard work pays off in the end...or it's supposed to anyway. Sometimes, it's just pure luck.

The season officially began last Thursday with their first game & then 3 tournament games on Saturday. Unfortunately, I missed Tay's first 4 games because we were in Dallas. I hate that I had to miss her first one, but that's life.

Monday night's game started promptly at 4:30. Of course, I missed the first few innings because after getting off of work, I had to run home & get the other 2 kiddos. Then I drove around the darn school for 10 minutes looking for the hidden field (had to ask!). I was greeted with "You missed Tay's home run! She was first batter & it was her first hit!". Great!! 'Cept I missed it.

We settled in & watched the girls play hard. Game was close, but we ended up losing by ONE POINT in the last minute. But that how the game goes sometimes.

Last night was a home game & I got there on time! This one started out very slow - 3 up, 3 down... 3 up, 3 down... Then we really got going! Our bats started hitting, our legs took off, & our gloves started catching. It was great! Tay hit a fantastic double/almost triple. One the next hit, she slid in to 3rd & then slid in to home plate & scored a run for the team! She makes me nervous because she's so unpredictible as to when she'll take off. She runs her legs off & doesn't even look for the ball. No time! Just ruuuuuun Forrest...er Tay ruuuuuuun! It was the end of the 6th inning & we were winning 8 - 5 with 2 minutes to go. Great! Of course, the clock doesn't really count because we play 7 innings. Our pitcher pitched the whole game & you could tell she was tired. When they start hitting off of you, time to change pitchers. They finally did, but it was just too late. Now they're up to bat & they're bats start hitting, gloves start catching, etc. Not good for us because our gloves stopped catching!

So, we get last bat & the score is now 13 - 8. I guess we were still down on our luck, or they were up on theirs. We just couldn't score again. It was sad seeing tears in the girls eyes as they prepare the field for the Varsity game to follow.

Well girls, there's always next time. There are MANY games left to be played. Next, we have a 2 day tournament (that we host) on Friday/Saturday March 9th & 10th. Yes, I'll be there eating more dirt - & happily! This season has just begun!!

 I resign...

I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult.

I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year old again.

I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.

I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make ripples with rocks.

I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.

I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer's day.

I want to return to a time when life was simple. When all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you didn't know and you didn't care.

All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.

I want to think the world is fair. That everyone is honest and good. I want to believe that anything is possible.

I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.

I want to live simply again. I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.

I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.

So....here's my checkbook and my car-keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood.

And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first, cause....

"Tag! You're it!!"

WONDERFUL Ministry Concert from the Ukraine!

Last night I saw the Kalyta Ministry Tour 2007 at our local church. Let me tell you, those girls were awesome! They put our American Idols to shame!! Earlier, they performed at our elementary school & our high school where my 3 children enjoyed them - so much, that they wanted to go again last night! (Of course, the "hot" girl(s) were probably a plus for my son going. He even got the phone number of one of them. I told him he canNOT call her as it's an expensive international call.) One of the girls is 12. She has a VERY powerful & pretty voice. They're all fantastic.

Their organization is HopeNow.
