What a great ending to Lulu's softball season!

This week was the final "8 and Under Tournament" for Lulu's All Stars softball team & the other 2 teams in her league. Monday night, we had a double-header (1 game against each - "O" & "W") & we won both games. Tuesday night, we had the 2nd game against "O" & won that one. Last night, we had our final game against "W" & won again - thus MAKING US THE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS! The girls were so proud of themselves, & rightly so. They've played some great ball this season!

The team was given a trophy, & then each girl was presented with an individual trophy stating they won 1st Place. You should have seen the smiles on their faces. I can't believe we forgot to take the camera!

Now Lulu has completed her ball, so I won't be running all over with her practices/games.

Her cheer season (camp week) will be the last week of the month....

******************************************************************

Tay is playing on a Summer League team & they started their games last Monday with a double-header practice game (won both).

We have our first tournament to attend this Saturday. I'm having Lulu stay with her aunt this weekend due to the fact that it's a looooong one.

I'll be leaving for the park at 7:00am. It's about 1 - 1 1/2 hour drive to the sports complex from home. The first game is at 9:00. Their next game is at noon. These games determine the pool - or which team plays which for the semi-final games. They will then play again in the semi games at either 4:30, 6:00 or 7:30. The top two teams from this will compete in the Championship Game - which begins at 9:00 pm. That is if the earlier games all start on time (which is rare).

This will be about a 14-hour-day (not including driving time to & from the field). I'm going to be one worn out mommy (hopefully not sunburned) by the time I arrive back home after midnight. I'm sure I'll shower & have to crawl to the bed to pass out! But, it'll be great!! I love me some softball!!

 Demented Squirrel Meets His Demise

Now you've all read several times on Randy's blog about the squirrels that invade the Hollow & have wreaked havoc. They have destroyed my precious bird feeders, eat all the food put out for the birds, & have now chewed through the lid of the large container I keep in the carport to store my bird food in.

Every morning you can come out to find a squirrel or two, or even a chipmunk!, inside the bucket munching away on my seeds. Sometimes they even jump out when the see us coming out! Most of the time, they just look at you & continue munching. Brave squirrels? or just arrogant? I choose the latter. They even have a leader - or the big barker - of the bunch. He sits up in the tree & screams at the other squirrels all day.

Anyway, yesterday after work, I went out to stick my foot in the pool to see how warm the water was. Lulu's purple ball is still floating around from where she played in it the night before. The ball begins to drift a bit & there it was....

The big "barker/leader" squirrel floating IN THE POOL!! Yes, my foot came out of the water real fast. Evidently, he decided that Lulu was having so much fun splashing around in the water that he decided he wanted to join in. Either that or he just wanted a drink. It was hot after all, & we are in a drought.

This is a 10' X 6' X 22" kids blow up pool. There are three separate rings around that you blow up. I guess he couldn't get a grip & was unable to get back out of the pool. Therefore, he met his untimely death.

It's a wonder he didn't scratch the crap out of the pool & tear it up! The rubber/plastic pool is pretty thin.

Randy comes in from work & was presented with his new task for the afternoon. Please remove the squirrel from the pool! He proceeds to get the rake & lifts the furry creature from the water. It must have happened early in the day as rigamortis had already set in. I had him dispose of it in the woods across the street so we won't have to smell the rotting squirrel meat as he starts to decay.

The neighbor spots him & asked what hewas getting rid of. Um...our lovely barking squirrel monster, of course! They laughed at his story of where the squirrel was. He told Randy that that is also where he puts "the bodies". Ok...

Next, Randy has to stick his arm in the infected water to unplug the drain to let the water out. Tay had turned the pool the other evening so the drain is now on the upper side. For that reason, the water has only partially drained. I'll have to dump the rest out.

Inside the pool, along with her ball, is her goggles. My next job is to disinfect the goggles, the ball, & the pool before my kiddos can get back in there. Eeeewwww That's gonna be a fun job too!

So folks, there you have it. The master leader of the Hollow Squirrel colony has met his early demise.

 Cojones de Toro

A southern boy stopped at a local restaurant following
a day roaming around in Mexico .
While sipping his tequila, he noticed a sizzling,
scrumptious looking platter being served at the next
table. Not only did it look good, the smell was
wonderful. He asked the waiter, "What is that you just
served?"
The waiter replied, "Ah senor, you have excellent
taste! Those are called Cojones de Toro, bull's
testicles from the bull fight this morning. A delicacy!"
The southern boy said, "What the heck, bring me an order."
The waiter replied, "I am so sorry senor. There is
only one serving per day because there is only one
bull fight each morning. If you come early and place
your order, we will be sure to save you this delicacy."
The next morning, the southern boy returned, placed his
order, and that evening was served the one and only
special delicacy of the day. After a few bites,
inspecting his platter, he called to the waiter and
said, "These are delicious, but they are much, much
smaller than the ones I saw you serve yesterday."
The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied,
"Si,Senor. Sometimes the bull wins.
