 Changed plans--Accident--Broken Beer Bottle

Today has been SO lovely *note sarcasm*...

Tay was supposed to have a home game this afternoon at 4:30. I get an email from her step mom, who works at the school, that it was moved to the other team's field at a bit later time. Now I have a problem cuz Lulu is practicing too. Then one about 30 minutes later that it was a bit later than that...then one that the other team canceled it all. She calls... Now they may have a scrimmage game, if the coach can work it out. Ended up with her only having practice.

So, I go to the field where Lulu started practicing at 4:00. As I'm getting her gear out of the back of my car, my phone rings. It's B. Somehow I missed the call, but couldn't get him back cuz it's now busy. Then his step mom calls asking where I am. I just stepped out on to the field at Lulu's practice. "He's OK, but B has been in an accident". It was in town so I told her I was on my way to him. I left Lulu's stuff with one of the parents & said I be back asap. The teacher/parent said she'd take her to PTO meeting with her if I don't get back before practice is over. I'm off to the accident site - a nervous wreck!!

B calls me & said he's ok, but some idiot (his words) hit him in the rear & pushed him in to the lady in front of him. He was stopped in traffic, along with a lady in a big SUV, waiting on someone else to turn. Come to find out, the boy in the truck was scanning a parking lot to see if his girlfriend/fiance's grandmother was working. This is a main highway running thru town & is always very busy. Yes, let's scan parking lots going 45 mph & not watch where we're going!

The police pulls up, so we hang up. I get there to find him to really be ok. He said he did hit his knee on the dash/steering wheel column or something. Yes, the right one that he just had surgery on. He was on his way home from physical therapy on this knee. I know I was "told" he was ok, but a mother can't be assured of that until she sees for herself. It's a mommy thing.

The boy comes up & apologizes several times. I find my van with the rear end smashed in, back door smashed, etc. The front now has scrapes & a permanent backwards "atoyoT" imbeded in the bumper. It was from her Toyota trailer hitch thingy. She was lucky as there was no damage to her big thing at all.

For some reason, my driver air bad didn't deploy. I guess cuz the impact was in the rear & he didn't hit the front hard enuff? or as a fast enuff speed cuz he was sitting? I dunno... It was drivable, I assume/hope/pray, as the police had him pull over in the eye care place parking lot. Seems the lady he was scanning for works there. His truck front end is destroyed & he can't drive it. The policeman turns out to be the uncle of one of Lulu's best friends. After we finish up there, I tell B to drive straight home (on the backroads)...do not pass go...do not collect $200...go directly home. I had to get back to Lulu's practice, & then pick up Tay from hers too. I even made him call me when he arrived home. Paranoid? Yeppers!

After Tay's practice, she comes out to the car with "Can I drive home?" I let out a quick & adamant NO! Her big eyes told me that... Then I explained that B was just in an accident & my nerves were NOT up for her to drive...no way, no how.

Tonight, he's having a problem with something in his Physical Science homework. My niece is too. What does he want? To DRIVE to her house. I had to think about it for about 10 minutes, but I let him. I called when he had enuff time to get there - & he just walked in. It's bad enuff to have a new teen driver, but gee!

THEN he calls back to inform me that aNOTHER idiot threw out & busted a beer bottle (Budweiser) at the bottom of my driveway! He picked up the biggest piece, but would I go sweep the rest up cuz he couldn't see it very well, & needed to get to Jenn's to get his homework done. Now I'm in the shower when this call comes in. So, afterwards, I throw on some clothing & head out. There were little & bigger jagged pieces all over. Needless to say, I was NOT a happy camper.

I think I need to go to bed & get some good sleep.... Wait! I can't!!

Now I'm waiting on the "I'm on my way home" call.

 Weekend has been cancelled...

No, not your/the whole weekend, per se, but the events that were planned for MY weekend. Don't panic...you'll still get yours!

We were supposed to be in a softball tournament tonight & tomorrow, but it has just been cancelled due to the weather...well, what's on the way too.

I had a feeling it would be, so I called the park myself. I knew if I waited on the coach to tell the girls at school, then on Tay to tell me, it would be almost time to be there! So, I went directly to the source - or the facility in this case. I was quickly informed that the whole tournament has been cancelled.

It seems the fields are under water from it raining all night. We're expecting more rain this evening, then turning to snow tonight. They say we'll get 1 - 3 inches. We'll see 'bout dat....

Actually, I'm kind of glad it is cancelled. We were to have a game at 6:00pm & then another one at 9:00pm. The 9 would've actually started about 9:30 or so cuz they always get behind in tournaments. We'd be sitting out there in the cold rain freezing at about 36-40 degree weather. Then back again for a full day in the freezing cold all day/evening tomorrow too. No thanks. I love me some softball, but I don't wanna freeze to death & end up sick! I sure don't want any of my kiddos sick!

So, now it looks like I just might have a relaxing weekend! We'll see about that too, cuz I'm sure the two teens will find something they'll want to get in to!

Here's wishing you all a warm, sunny & wonderful weekend!!

Well, I WAS gonna put a song on here for the weekend, but it seems the corporate 'puter police has blocked the only site I could go to for a song that I could actually hear.

 Rain, softball, & more softball

Friday night's softball tournament game was great! Lulu was upset that I wouldn't let her go, but she was out of school Thur & Fri with Strep, so I put my foot down & made her stay at the house with Randy. I got there & had my blanket out very soon. It started at 6 & the temp had already dropped to the lower 40s. Then the rain began. I left my umbrella in the car, but it was a very light rain so I just sat there. The girls played very well & won their game! I came home & went straight to soak in a hot bath as I was cold & wet. brrrrr

Saturday morning my Lulu had practice at 9am. We were there for nearly 2 hours, made a trip to WalMart & then home. We barely had enough time to throw a sammich together & get to Tay's games!

Sat was beautiful with temps in the 60s. We had a double-header. Lulu was feeling much better & played some with her friends there. Our first game went really well & they won. The girls were all excited. They only had 15 minutes to rest up before the start of their next game.

This team is very good & we knew this would show us just where we are... During the game, their pitcher (awesome!) pitched her 1,000th career strike-out. Incredible! Needless to say, we lost this one 11-0, but they still played very well. Our team is extremely young for a varsity team with only 2 seniors & 2 juniors, & the rest are freshman & 1 8th grader.

We don't have any games this week due to grad-exams at the high school, but they still have practice every day. Lulu's was yesterday from 4-6:10. Tay finished just as I was pulling in to get her after Lulu's. It was a windy time out there on the field.

Lulu's coach asked me to be the team mom, but I told her there's just no way with my limited time. I'm already having scheduling conflicts between Lulu & Taylor. I will help all I can, but I just can't commit to that with so much other stuff I have to do.

We have another tournament this weekend with 2 games Friday night & who knows how many Saturday. I'm looking forward to another weekend filled with softball!

Hope you're all staying warm & have a great week!!

 Sickness & weekend

My Lulu woke up yesterday morning with a sore throat. I looked with a flashlight & spotted puss-pockets. Yep, strep. So, no school for her. I loaded her up & was on the way to work. She loaded up her blanket, pallet stuff & pillow. I called to doc's office & was told her have her there at 8:30, so I headed straight there & called my boss when we arrived. This visit confirmed my fear, & I asked him to give her a penicillin shot. Once back at work, she slept on her pallet, & I got some things done that I HAD to do. As soon as the other girl got her at noon, we left & went home. That baby slept ALL day!

I called Randy to see if he would stay with her today since it's his off day. He was happy to, so she got to stay home & rest all day.
Her leg is sore from the shot, but today she is MUCH better today! I knew it would take effect quicker that antibiotics by mouth for two weeks.

Now Tay has a game at 6 tonight. It's getting dark & cloudy. We're supposed to have rain. They WILL play in the rain as long as there is no lightning. Looks like I'll be sitting under an umbrella watching the girls play muddball. *shrug* The rest of the weekend tournament will be tomorrow. We play then at 1 & at 3. So, two more games tomorrow for Tay. Lulu will have her first practice at 9am tomorrow.

Anyhoo, hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

 Softball & bad storms

Last night was our first season softball game (Tay/Varisty). I had to hurry home from work to get the other two kiddos & head to the field. Lucky for me, it was a home game & just around the corner.

It started off pretty slow & headed in to the 3rd inning at 0-0. Then, our short-stop made a throw over the head of our first baseman & over the fence - outside of the field. That allowed one of their runners to get home & score. The other was only allowed to get to 2nd base. That one point was the only point our girls allowed them to make the rest of the 7 inning game.

Then WE came ALIVE! I was starting to get a bit worried, but they suddenly got so IN to the game. We ended the game with the score 11-1. Pretty good for a first game!

I had to leave quickly & take B to the church. There is a group of youth from Ukraine that is touring the US again this year. He wanted to go hear them sing because he enjoyed it so much last year. He also had his eye on a couple of the girls! He still has one of the phone numbers from one girl last year...*snickersnort* No, he didn't ever call her! The church was packed! I had to rush him there & hurry back to the field because I had been asked to work the concession stand for the next game of the JrVarsity. Their game was lost 0-1. Needless to say, we were very late getting home. It was quick showers & off to bed!

About 4 am, I'm awakened by the howling wind & rain. We were having a bad storm & I was wondering about my roof/house. Then my weather radio went off warning of 70 mph winds. Yep, it was . Tay came & crawled in bed with me & Lulu cuz she was getting scared. Lulu & B slept through the whole thing. I finally got up & turned on the TV to see what was happening. Once it was clear for us, Tay went back to her bed & I crawled back in. I never did get back to sleep.

Upon waking up, I learned that there are power outages all over our county, large trees down, etc. The fence at the softball field is down on two sides. I saw this when I dropped the kids off at school. On my way to work, I saw a few trees on power lines, etc. Debris is everywhere!

About half-way to work, there was this young girl & a little girl walking to school. They were still about 3-4 blocks away & I knew they were late for school. Seeing the debris & puddles everywhere, I offered them a ride to the elementary school since I pass right by it. I was surprised, but they accepted. I thought the older one was a sibling, but it was the mother. She looked SO young (25). Their power was out & she got up late. I wasn't sure if they'd ride with me being some stranger white girl. Anyway, she said I looked very nice & so she wasn't afraid for them to ride with me. Now I felt good & did my good deed for the day!

Once I got to work, the phones started ringing - claims coming in from the storm. I knew it would be this way. It's calmed down for now. One of the high schools nearby had the roof completely removed, so they're having to go back to pick up their kids. The 70 mph straight-line winds did SO much damage. We were lucky there weren't tornados. This was bad enough. No one reported hurt that I'm aware of yet. I hope it stays that way!

Anyway, gotta get back to work! Have a wonder day!!
